Cleaning the Controller Fan and Cabinet Interior
For maintenance technicians performing the 6-month check on the controller's cooling fan and cabinet interior to prevent overheating faults in dusty production environments.
- Step 1.
Check the cabinet temperature history
Review controller diagnostics for any over-temperature warnings that suggest the fan or cabinet interior needs attention sooner than the 6-month interval.
- Step 2.
Power down and lock out
De-energize the controller and apply LOTO before opening the cabinet. There isn't an air filter cartridge to swap on this controller, so cleaning is done inside the cabinet.
- Step 3.
Open the cabinet
Open the cabinet door per the manufacturer's procedure so you can reach the cooling fan and the interior surfaces.
- Step 4.
Check the fan rotates freely
With power off, spin the fan by hand and confirm it turns freely without scraping, wobble, or resistance. Any binding or noise means the fan needs replacement per section 8.10, not just cleaning.
Caution: Don't look for a removable filter cartridge. The controller doesn't use one. Any 'Filter' component you see in the parts list is an electrical Noise Filter, not an air filter.
- Step 5.
Wipe the fan and cabinet interior
Wipe dirt and dust off the fan blades, fan housing, and the interior of the cabinet using a lint-free cloth. Use a vacuum with a soft brush for heavy dust. Avoid detergents or liquids near electronics.

Close up and restore power
Confirm nothing was left inside, close the cabinet, remove LOTO, and power back up. Verify the fan runs and cabinet temperature stays within normal range during operation.
