Quick Mastering a FANUC Robot
Quick mastering restores mastering using a previously set quick master reference point. You jog the robot to that stored reference position and then run Quick Master from Master/Cal. It is a common remedy for SRVO-034 when a valid quick master reference already exists.
- Step 1.
Confirm a quick master reference exists
Check that a quick master reference point was previously set for this robot. Quick mastering uses that stored reference, not scribed zero marks.
Caution: If no valid reference was ever set, quick mastering cannot be used. Choose another mastering method.
- Step 2.
Select jog and reduce speed
Put the pendant in T1 and lower the jog override. Slow motion helps you settle the robot onto the reference position.
Caution: Stay clear of the work envelope and be ready to release the enabling device.
- Step 3.
Jog to the quick master reference position
Jog the robot to the quick master reference pose that was defined when the reference was set. Match the reference position as closely as the setup allows.
Caution: Do not rely on factory-scribed zero marks for this step. That is zero-position mastering, not quick mastering.
- Step 4.
Open Quick Master
Go to System, Master/Cal and select Quick Master. This uses the stored reference to recover the mastering data.
- Step 5.
Execute and confirm
Start Quick Master and answer the confirmation prompt to apply. The controller updates mastering from the reference position.
- Step 6.
Calibrate and power-cycle
Run Calibrate from Master/Cal, then power-cycle the controller. This puts the recovered mastering into effect.

Verify recovery
Confirm the SRVO-034 or related alarm has cleared and current position readouts look correct. Jog to a known point at low speed to check.
Caution: If positions are off, the reference may be stale. Re-master with a fixture jig instead.
