Banner light curtain

Photoelectric light curtain used to guard robot cell openings and press points, stopping the robot if the light beams are interrupted.

Banner light curtains create a plane of infrared beams between a transmitter and receiver, and interrupting any beam triggers a stop signal to the connected safety controller. They are commonly mounted at cell openings, conveyor infeed points, or anywhere personnel need regular access without a physical door.

Resolution, meaning the size of object the curtain can reliably detect, is selected based on whether the application needs to detect a hand, an arm, or a full body, which affects both the safety rating and the cost of the unit.

Light curtains need a clear, unobstructed line of sight between transmitter and receiver, and reflective surfaces nearby can sometimes cause false triggers if not accounted for during installation.
