Hardwired safety relays that monitor emergency stop buttons and cut power to the robot and cell equipment through redundant, monitored contacts.

Safety relays wired to e-stop pushbuttons provide a hardwired, category-rated stop function that does not depend on software logic to operate correctly. Dual-channel wiring with contact monitoring is standard practice so a single wire fault cannot prevent the stop from working.

Even cells that use a full safety PLC typically still route the master e-stop circuit through dedicated safety relays as the final hardwired layer, keeping the most basic stop function independent of more complex programmable logic.

Reset after an e-stop event is normally required to be a deliberate manual action at the panel, not an automatic clear, so the robot doesn't restart on its own after the fault condition clears.
