SCADA link

Connection between the robot cell's PLC and a plant SCADA system that gives operators and supervisors a real-time view of status and alarms.

A SCADA link pulls tags from the cell PLC, typically over the same fieldbus already used for control, such as EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, or Modbus TCP, and displays them on operator screens and historian trends. This gives supervisors visibility into cycle counts, fault history, and current cell state without needing to be at the machine.

Because SCADA is a monitoring and light control layer rather than the primary safety or motion control path, the connection is usually read-mostly, with any write-back to the cell limited to non-safety functions like recipe selection or remote start permission.

Platforms like Ignition build SCADA screens on top of this tag data, and the same OPC UA or Modbus connection often feeds a plant historian for longer-term trending and reporting.
