Battery Backup Unit

Houses the batteries backing up absolute position memory for multiple axis pulsecoders in a single serviceable unit.

Rather than mounting a battery on every individual motor, some robot designs route all the pulsecoder battery feeds to a single battery backup unit mounted on the arm or in the controller, holding a set of cells that back up every axis at once.

This design simplifies routine battery replacement into one service point instead of several, but it also means a single connector or wiring fault can affect position retention on more than one axis at a time.

Technicians check the output voltage of this unit as a standard step whenever more than one axis reports a low battery or position loss alarm at the same time.
