Brake Release Unit
Allows manual release of an individual axis holding brake for hand-positioning the arm without motor power.
The brake release unit lets a technician manually energize a specific axis brake coil to release it, allowing the arm to be moved by hand during service, after a collision, or during a power loss recovery.
Because releasing a brake on a gravity-loaded axis lets that axis move freely under its own weight, this tool is used with the arm supported and with attention to which axis is being released.
Some robot families build this function into the controller's manual release mode instead of a separate handheld unit, but the underlying purpose is the same.
