Controller Power Supply Unit

Converts incoming AC line power into the regulated DC voltages that power the controller's logic boards.

The controller power supply unit takes the incoming line voltage, after the transformer and breaker stage, and produces the 5V, 24V, and other DC rails the CPU board, I/O boards, and communication cards need to operate.

This is a separate unit from the drive-side power supply module that feeds the servo amplifiers, and the two should not be confused when ordering parts, since a controller PSU failure takes down logic power while the drive PSU failure takes down motion power.

Because it runs continuously whenever the cabinet is energized, this unit accumulates more operating hours than almost any other part in the cabinet and is a common wear item on older controllers.
