Encoder Cable
Carries position feedback signals from a motor pulsecoder to the axis control board.
The encoder cable carries low-level position feedback signals from the pulsecoder at the motor back to the axis control board, and because these signals are small compared to the motor power cable running alongside them, shielding and connector integrity matter more here than raw conductor size.
Like the motor power cable, encoder cables to the outer axes flex constantly and are the more failure-prone half of the pair since a signal fault can stop an axis immediately, while a marginal power cable might still run for a while.
Battery power for absolute position retention on some encoder types is also carried on this cable, so a break can cause both a feedback fault and a loss of absolute position data.
