J2 Axis Reducer

Provides the gear reduction and torque multiplication between the J2 servo motor and the lower arm at the shoulder joint.

The J2 axis reducer transmits motor torque to the lower arm at the shoulder joint, and because this axis works against gravity through most of its range, the reducer carries a sustained load even when the robot is stationary and only the brake is holding position.

This continuous static loading, combined with dynamic loading during motion, makes grease condition and seal integrity especially important for this reducer's service life.

A worn J2 reducer often shows up first as a slight sag or softness felt when jogging the axis, before it develops into an audible backlash problem.
