J5 Axis Reducer
Provides the gear reduction for the wrist pitch axis inside the compact wrist unit housing.
The J5 axis reducer is packaged inside the wrist unit and converts the J5 servo motor's output into the torque needed to pitch the tool flange up and down relative to the forearm.
Space constraints inside the wrist mean this reducer is smaller and more tightly integrated with its neighboring components than reducers further up the arm, making replacement a more involved wrist teardown procedure.
Because it shares lubrication and housing space with the J6 reducer in many designs, contamination or grease loss on one often affects both.
