Controller trips a fuse repeatedly

A fuse that blows again after replacement is telling you something is overloaded or shorted downstream.

Short or overload on the E-stop board 24V circuit (FUSE2), or missing external 24V

FUSE2 on the emergency stop board blows when 24EXT is shorted to 0EXT, or the board sees no voltage between EXT24V and EXT0V. When an E-stop alarm like SRVO-001, SRVO-004, or SRVO-007 shows up alongside SRVO-213, a blown fuse may be why it won't clear.

Blown FS2 or FS3 fuse in the 6-axis servo amplifier

A blown FS2 or FS3 in the numbered 6-axis servo amplifier raises SRVO-214. An aux-axis amplifier type set to 1 (6-axis) instead of 2, or a duplicated amplifier number, can also produce this alarm without an actual blown fuse.

Defective brake cable shorting the brake unit fuse

SRVO-215 flags a blown fuse on the brake unit (or local stop unit, if fitted) for the numbered amplifier. FANUC's remedy order puts the brake cable first because a defective cable is the suspected fuse-killer. The same aux-axis amplifier type/number misconfiguration can also trigger it.

Software-version quirk mis-reporting an additional safety I/O board fuse

On certain older software versions (7DC3/43 and earlier and related families), a blown fuse on the additional safety I/O board is wrongly reported as SRVO-213. On those versions, check that board's fuse and follow SRVO-219 instead.

Where to start

  1. Note which fuse code came up: SRVO-213 (E-stop board), SRVO-214 (6-axis amplifier), or SRVO-215 (brake unit).
  2. If an E-stop alarm (SRVO-001/004/007) appears with SRVO-213, treat it as a possible blown fuse and follow SRVO-213.
  3. Find and clear the overload or short before refitting the fuse, because a fuse that blows twice is pointing at a fault.
  4. Electrical work on the safety chain or servo power is qualified-personnel work with lockout/tagout. Go to the matching code page: see SRVO-213, SRVO-214, or SRVO-215.
