Kitting

Kitting robots gather a defined set of parts into a tray, tote, or box to support a downstream assembly or shipping step.

The robot picks each required item from its source location, whether a bin, rack, or conveyor, and places it into the correct position in a kit tray according to a bill of materials.

Vision verification confirms the right part went into the right slot, since a kitting error usually surfaces much later at the assembly station where it costs more time to fix.

Because a kit often includes several different part types, tool changers or multi-function grippers let the robot handle the range of shapes without stopping to swap tooling manually.
