Backing Up Mastering Data
Mastering data lives in the SYSMAST.SV system file on the controller. You back it up from the File screen using F4 BACKUP and choosing the System files item. Keep a current copy so mastering can be restored after a controller or battery fault.
- Step 1.
Connect the backup device
Insert a USB memory stick or connect your chosen storage device. Make sure the controller recognizes it before continuing.
- Step 2.
Open the File screen
Go to the File screen on the teach pendant. Set the active device to your backup media so files write to the right place.
- Step 3.
Open the BACKUP list
Press F4 BACKUP to see the list of what can be backed up. This list includes the System files item that holds SYSMAST.SV.
Caution: Controlled start is a boot mode and MD: is a device path, not backup types. Do not look for a backup named that way.
- Step 4.
Select System files
Pick the System files item from the F4 BACKUP list. This saves the mastering data file SYSMAST.SV along with the other system files.
- Step 5.
Run the backup
Confirm the prompt to write the files to your device. Wait for the controller to report the backup is complete.
- Step 6.
Verify the files
Check the backup device and confirm SYSMAST.SV is present and not zero bytes. Label or note the backup with the robot and date.
Caution: If SYSMAST.SV is missing, repeat the backup before relying on it for recovery.
