Memory Device (MD:) Backup

For a technician running a File screen F4 BACKUP with the device set to MD: (the controller's internal Memory Device) to save controller files.

Basic~15 min6 steps
  1. Step 1.

    Stop all running programs

    Confirm the robot's stopped and no program is mid-cycle before backing up.

  2. Step 2.

    Open the File screen

    On the pendant, go to MENU, File, File.

  3. Step 3.

    Set the device to MD:

    Use UTIL, Set Device and choose MD:. MD: is the controller's internal Memory Device storage unit, not a backup type.

  4. Step 4.

    Press F4 BACKUP and pick a documented item

    Choose from the documented items: System files, TP programs, Application, Applic. TP, Error log, Diagnostic, Vision data, All of above, Maintenance, ASCII programs, or Image backup. Pick All of above to save the full set, or pick System files plus TP programs for a targeted save.

  5. Step 5.

    Confirm and run the backup

    Accept the prompt and wait for the transfer to finish.

  6. Step 6.

    Verify the file list

    Browse MD: and confirm the expected files were written.
