Backing Up to USB

For a technician performing a manual backup to a USB drive from the File screen. Covers the documented F4 BACKUP items and safe removal.

  1. Step 1.

    Insert the USB drive

    Plug the drive into the pendant (UD1:) or controller (UD:) port and wait for it to be recognized.

  2. Step 2.

    Open the File screen

    On the pendant, go to MENU, File, File.

  3. Step 3.

    Set the device to the USB path

    Use UTIL, Set Device and choose the USB path so the backup writes to the USB drive.

  4. Step 4.

    Choose the backup type

    Press F4 BACKUP and choose from the documented items: System files, TP programs, Application, Applic. TP, Error log, Diagnostic, Vision data, All of above, Maintenance, ASCII programs, or Image backup. For mastering data, use System files (SYSMAST.SV).

  5. Step 5.

    Run the backup

    Confirm the prompt and wait for the transfer to finish.

  6. Step 6.

    Wait for completion before removing the drive

    Wait for the pendant to confirm the operation is complete before unplugging the USB drive.

    Caution: Removing the USB during a write or read may break or corrupt files on the USB memory.
