  1. Step 1.

    Confirm the DCS option is present

    DCS is a software option. Open the software configuration screen and confirm the DCS option is listed before attempting any DCS work.

  2. Step 2.

    Reference the DCS Operator's Manual for zone and speed setup

    The screens for defining position check zones, speed check limits, and other DCS parameters are documented in the Dual Check Safety Function Operator's Manual, not in the controller operator's manual covered here. Do the parameter entry from that manual, working to the values in your risk assessment.

  3. Step 3.

    Open the DCS screen

    On the teach pendant press MENU, choose 6 SYSTEM, then select DCS from the system submenu to reach the DCS parameter screens.

  4. Step 4.

    Apply the DCS changes

    After the DCS parameters have been edited per the Operator's Manual, press F2 APPLY on the DCS screen. The controller will prompt for a code number to authorize the change.

  5. Step 5.

    Enter the code number

    Enter the DCS code number when prompted to confirm the parameter change is authorized.

  6. Step 6.

    Cycle power

    Power the controller off and back on. DCS parameter changes take effect after the re-power.

  7. Step 7.

    Verify the applied configuration

    After re-power, return to the DCS screen and confirm the parameters show as applied. Run the verification steps described in the DCS Operator's Manual to prove each configured limit stops or restricts the robot as intended.

  8. Step 8.

    Obtain sign-off

    Have a qualified safety engineer review the applied parameters and verification results, and sign off before the cell returns to production.
