Muting sensors

Sensor pairs that temporarily bypass a light curtain or scanner zone in a controlled way to let material pass through without stopping the robot.

Muting sensors detect when a pallet, cart, or conveyor load is legitimately passing through a guarded opening and temporarily suspend the safety function for that specific path, so material handling doesn't trigger a stop every time. The muting logic requires a specific sequence of sensor activations to confirm it is material passing through and not a person.

Because muting creates a deliberate, temporary gap in the safety function, the sensor arrangement and logic must be carefully designed and validated so a person cannot exploit the same sequence to bypass the guard undetected.

Muting status is typically indicated with a visible lamp at the opening so anyone nearby knows the guard is temporarily inactive for material passage.
