OnRobot builds the gripper as a plug-and-play unit rather than a component to be integrated. A common mounting interface (the Quick Changer) and a set of software plugins for major cobot brands let a technician swap between electric fingers, vacuum tools, and force-sensing grippers without rewriting the robot program.

The lineup covers two- and three-finger electric grippers, single- and dual-cup vacuum units, a magnetic gripper for sheet metal, and combined gripper-force sensor packages. Everything shares the same cabling and control approach, which is the point of the ecosystem.

Compatibility trade-offs: the deepest software integration is on Universal Robots and Doosan, and other brands get less out of the ecosystem. Compliant designs also give up some grip force compared to a rigid industrial parallel gripper like a comparable Schunk grippers model.

Commissioning pitfalls: dual-cup vacuum arrangements where only one cup seals on a curved part (the URCap reports grip success but the pick actually drops), force thresholds tuned on new fingertips that then drift as the rubber wears, and Quick Changer wiring that binds through a wrist orientation change if the cable routing wasn't planned.

Typical uses: machine tending on a Universal Robots UR10e where the operator swaps between a two-finger gripper and a vacuum tool between shifts, light assembly with a force-sensing gripper, and short-run pick-and-place where changeover time is the constraint.
