RobotStudio mirrors ROBOGUIDE's role for ABB robots, letting integrators build a virtual cell, program robot paths, and check for reach and collision issues before the physical cell is built. It uses the same virtual controller software that runs on the physical IRC5 controller, so simulated programs transfer to the real robot with minimal changes.

The software supports virtual commissioning against a PLC simulation or emulator, letting integrators test the robot-to-PLC handshake logic before the real PLC hardware and robot are connected together on-site.

As with any offline simulation tool, results are only as good as the accuracy of the 3D models and cycle time data used to build the virtual cell.
