Yaskawa Motoman GP280

The Motoman GP280 tops Yaskawa's general purpose line for payload, rated to move 280 kg at the wrist. Its 2446 mm of reach covers the large pallet footprints and big castings this arm is built around. Six axes give it the articulation to set heavy loads at varied angles across a wide envelope.

That mix points it squarely at material handling and palletizing, where both the load and the reach run high. It also takes on press tending, moving heavy stock in and out of the die between cycles. Each of those jobs leans on the 280 kg rating more than on a delicate touch.

Even with a full load on the wrist, the GP280 holds a repeatability of 0.05 mm, a single robot-level figure. Yaskawa builds the arm for floor installation, and at roughly 1300 kg it's a heavy machine in its own right. That mass means the floor mount needs real foundation planning before the robot ever moves.

The GP280 runs on Yaskawa's YRC1000 controller. It carries an IP67 wrist / IP54 body (IP65 body with XP option) rating.

For light or medium duty work, this arm brings more capacity than the task needs, so it earns its place on the heaviest handling jobs. When the parts are large and heavy and the pallet loads run tall, the 280 kg payload and 2446 mm reach are the whole point.
