Yaskawa Motoman MPX2600

The Yaskawa Motoman MPX2600 is a six-axis arm built for automotive paint booths, and every figure on the sheet points back to that job. Its explosion-proof rating is the headline, aimed at the solvent-based paint work this class is meant to run. Yaskawa introduced it in 2018.

The arm handles a 15 kg payload across a 2,000 mm reach, which is enough work envelope to move around a full body panel. Six degrees of freedom give it the articulation to work around the shape of that panel. It adds up to the reach and dexterity a complex-panel coat needs.

Finish quality rides on control, and the arm holds 0.2 mm repeatability shot to shot. Smooth path accuracy is central to the pitch, keeping coats consistent as the end-effector tracks a contoured panel. Steady motion through the whole stroke is what keeps the coating even.

The hollow-arm construction keeps the fluid and air lines protected, which fits close work inside a spray booth. It weighs 485 kg and mounts on the floor, wall, or ceiling, so integrators can place it wherever booth geometry allows. Protection is listed at IP4X/65.

It runs on Yaskawa DX200 control. The arm is specialized for paint application rather than general material handling, so it belongs on a finishing line more than a general handling cell. It also calls for paint-booth-rated maintenance procedures, so plan upkeep around the booth safety requirements from the start.
