Application

Waterjet Tending

Waterjet tending robots load and unload parts around a high-pressure waterjet cutting cell, working next to a process that combines water, abrasive, and extreme pressure.

The robot places raw stock on the cutting bed and removes finished parts once the waterjet completes its programmed cut path, keeping the cutting head running with minimal downtime between parts.

Water and abrasive spray reach well beyond the immediate cutting zone, so the robot's sealing and cabling need to tolerate a wet, gritty environment without water intrusion.

High-pressure cell interlocks keep the robot out of the cutting envelope while the jet is active, coordinating entry and exit with the waterjet controller's own safety signals.

Common questions

What robots are used for Waterjet Tending?
Waterjet Tending suits 6-axis industrial robots. Examples include FANUC M-20iD/25, ABB IRB 2600.
What payload and reach does Waterjet Tending need?
Payload is typically 5 to 35 kg with reach around 1400 to 2000 mm.
What matters most for Waterjet Tending?
Waterproof arm and cable sealing. Part loading and unloading tooling. High-pressure cell interlock integration. Drainage-compatible mounting.
