Robotics market
Americas robot installations rose 14% as Brazil surged and Mexico slid
57,044 robots installed across the Americas in 2025, up 14%. The United States accounted for most of them, but the more surprising movements were further south.
Brazil installed almost 4,300 robots, up 38%, as its automotive industry's installations more than tripled to almost 2,100, a 212% increase. IFR says investment by Chinese car manufacturers in Brazil was most likely responsible. Mexico went the other way, down 7% to fewer than 5,200, its third year of decline. Canada rose 5% to almost 4,000.
This page traces the regional total and each country to IFR's World Robotics 2026 releases, and keeps the US story, which has its own page, in proportion.
Data covers Industrial robot installations in the Americas in 2025, by country (IFR World Robotics 2026, September 2026). Published 2026-10-06. Last reviewed 2026-10-06. Last updated 2026-10-06. Edited by Mike Ramsey / Reliable Media.
The figures and where they come from
Each figure is rated for how safely you can cite it today. Ratings judge current usability, not whether a number was ever correct.
| Figure | What it is | Source | Citation Confidence | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 57,044 (+14%) | Americas installations | [B] | High | Reported in IFR's EU-27 release for comparison with Europe. |
| almost 38,500 (+12%) | United States | [A] | High | Most of the regional total. IFR's US release gives 38,400. |
| almost 4,300 (+38%) | Brazil | [A] | High | The fastest-growing market named in the Americas section. |
| almost 2,100 (+212%) | Brazil, automotive industry | [A] | High | The segment behind Brazil's jump. |
| Chinese carmakers, most likely | Why Brazil jumped, per IFR | [A] | Medium | IFR's attribution, hedged by IFR itself as most likely. |
| fewer than 5,200 (-7%) | Mexico | [A] | High | Down for the third year. |
| Third year of decline | Mexico's trend | [A] | High | A trend rather than a one-year dip. |
| almost 4,000 (+5%) | Canada | [A] | High | Average growth of 9% a year from 2020 to 2025, per IFR. |
Why the numbers disagree
A regional total is mostly one country. The US installed almost 38,500 of the Americas' 57,044 robots, so the regional growth rate largely reflects the US. The other markets are far smaller and moved in different directions.
Brazil's jump comes with a stated cause, and a hedge. IFR attributes it most likely to Chinese car manufacturers investing in Brazil. That is IFR's single-source judgement, and it explains the automotive surge rather than every Brazilian installation.
Mexico's fall is a run, not a blip. IFR describes 2025 as the third year of downswing for Mexico, so a single-year reading understates how long the decline has lasted.
How to cite these figures
Cite 57,044 industrial robots installed across the Americas in 2025, up 14%, from IFR World Robotics 2026.
Keep IFR's qualifiers on country figures: almost 4,300 for Brazil, fewer than 5,200 for Mexico, almost 4,000 for Canada.
Attribute Brazil's car-industry surge as IFR does, as most likely driven by investment from Chinese car manufacturers, not as an established fact.
Where people go wrong
Reading the Americas' 14% as a hemisphere-wide boom. Mexico fell and Canada rose modestly; the US carried the total.
Quoting Brazil's 212% as national growth. It is the automotive segment; the national total rose 38%.
Stating the Chinese-investment explanation without IFR's hedge.
How we checked
The regional total comes from IFR's EU-27 release, which reports Asia and the Americas for comparison; the national figures come from IFR's global release. Both were issued with World Robotics 2026.
IFR gives several national figures with qualifiers such as almost and fewer than. We keep them, because rounding them away would suggest a precision the release does not offer.
The United States has its own page with customer-industry detail; here it appears as the dominant share of the regional total.

Common questions
- How many industrial robots were installed in the Americas in 2025?
- 57,044, up 14%, according to IFR World Robotics 2026.
- Why did Brazil's robot installations jump?
- Brazil installed almost 4,300 robots, up 38%, driven by its automotive industry, where installations rose 212% to almost 2,100. IFR says investment by Chinese car manufacturers in Brazil was most likely responsible.
- Is Mexico's robot market growing?
- No. Installations fell 7% to fewer than 5,200 in 2025, which IFR describes as the third year of downswing.
- How did Canada do?
- Canada's installations rose 5% to almost 4,000, and averaged 9% growth a year from 2020 to 2025, according to IFR.

- The US overtook Japan to become the world's No. 2 robot market
US factories installed 38,400 industrial robots, up 12%, passing Japan for second place behind China, per IFR World Robotics 2026. IFR's June preliminary figure was 38,000, and its global release rounds the total to almost 38,500.
- US installed 34,200 robots in 2024, down 9%
The US installed 34,200 industrial robots in 2024, down 9% from 2023, which was 68% of the 50,100 units installed across the Americas, per IFR World Robotics 2025. The 50,100 is a regional figure, and installations are separate from A3 order counts.
- EU robot installations fell 11% as the bloc's robot stock passed 700,000
EU-27 factories installed 60,500 industrial robots, down 11%, even as the EU's operational stock passed 700,000, per IFR World Robotics 2026. Germany installed 24,800 of them, 41% of the EU total.
- Where the world's new robots go: by region and by industry
Asia took 74% of the world's new robot installations in 2024, Europe 16%, the Americas 9%. The United States installed 34,200 robots in 2024, and around 40% of them went to automotive. Where robots actually go, traced to source.
