SRVO-014: Fan motor abnormal, CPU STOP
A cooling fan on the controller backplane has stopped.
What it means
A cooling fan on the controller backplane has stopped. This one has a countdown: one minute after the alarm, the CPU deliberately halts and the pendant freezes to protect itself from overheating. The number in the message says which fan - (1) above slot 1, (2) above slot 2, (3) both.
Common causes
Ranked by what technicians most often find, most likely first.
- Failed or stalled backplane fan motor (dust and bearing wear are the usual killers).
- Fan cable loose or damaged.
- Backplane unit fault.
- Main board fault (rare, last suspect).
How to fix it
- Identify the fan from the number in the message; check it and its cable, clean or replace as needed.
- If a good fan doesn't clear it, replace the backplane unit.
- Before any main board replacement, take a complete image backup - programs and settings live there.
- Don't ignore this one: the one-minute CPU stop means it will take the robot down mid-cycle.
