Common causes
Ranked by what technicians most often find, most likely first.
- Blown FUSE1 on the E-stop board.
- Cable between E-stop board and main board.
- Failed E-stop unit.
- Additional safety I/O board needing initialization (slave-controller systems like M-2000iA).
- Cabling to or failure of the additional safe I/O device.
- Multi-arm system with a controller missing from the set.
- Main board (last, after image backup).
How to fix it
- Safety-chain electrical work is a qualified-personnel task. With the controller de-energized and locked out, check FUSE1 on the E-stop board, correct the cause of the blown fuse, and replace the fuse.
- With the controller de-energized and locked out, check the E-stop-board-to-main-board cable and replace it if suspect.
- With the controller de-energized and locked out, replace the E-stop unit.
- On slave-controller systems, initialize the safety I/O device.
- With the controller de-energized and locked out, check the additional safe I/O device and its cabling.
- On multi-arm systems, confirm all controllers are connected.
- Take an image backup with the controller powered, then de-energize and apply lockout/tagout again before replacing the main board.
