SRVO-220: SDI fuse blown

What it means

FUSE1 on the main board - protecting the +24V output for the peripheral device interface - has blown. Prime suspect: a short between 24SDI and 0V somewhere in the peripheral cabling.

Common causes

Ranked by what technicians most often find, most likely first.

  1. Peripheral device cable shorting 24SDI to 0V.
  2. Fault downstream of connector CRS40.
  3. Main board, E-stop-to-amplifier cable, main-board-to-E-stop cable, E-stop unit, or amplifier.

How to fix it

  1. With the controller de-energized and locked out, inspect the peripheral device cable for shorts and replace it if suspect.
  2. With the controller de-energized and locked out, disconnect CRS40. Restore power and check whether the fuse still blows. This is a clean isolation test for the downstream wiring.
  3. If it blows with CRS40 disconnected, take an image backup with the controller powered, then de-energize and apply lockout/tagout again before replacing the main board.
  4. Then work the cable and unit ladder with the controller de-energized and locked out for each exchange: E-stop-to-amplifier cable, main-to-E-stop cable, E-stop unit, then amplifier.
