J1 Axis Reducer

Provides the gear reduction and torque multiplication between the J1 servo motor and the robot's swivel base.

The J1 axis reducer steps down the servo motor's speed and multiplies its torque enough to rotate the entire upper arm assembly on the swivel base, making it one of the highest-loaded reducers on the robot.

Most manufacturers use a cycloidal or planetary-cycloidal design for this axis because of the sustained torque and shock loads involved, especially on robots that accelerate and decelerate quickly during base rotation.

Wear in this reducer shows up as increased backlash felt at the tool center point during fast direction changes, well before it becomes a hard fault.
