Swivel Base Casting
Rotates with the J1 axis to carry the entire upper arm structure relative to the fixed base casting.
The swivel base casting bolts to the output of the J1 axis reducer and rotates as a unit with the entire arm structure above it, making it the transition point between the fixed base casting and the moving parts of the robot.
Because it carries the full weight and dynamic load of the arm through every base rotation move, its mounting interfaces to the J1 reducer and the shoulder housing above are checked for bolt torque and fretting during major service.
Cable routing from the base casting into the arm typically passes through or around this component, often through a hollow center section that allows cables to pass without excessive twisting.
