Base Casting

Provides the fixed structural foundation that mounts the robot and carries the reaction loads of every axis above it.

The base casting is the robot's structural foundation, bolted to the floor, a pedestal, or a mounting cart, and it carries the full reaction load of every axis above it through the J1 reducer.

Because it sees no motion of its own, the base casting rarely fails outright, but its mounting surface and bolt holes are inspected periodically for wear or looseness, since a shifted base throws off the calibration of the entire robot.

Cable and hose routing for the whole arm typically passes through or alongside this casting, so it also serves as a junction point for service access.
