Solenoid Valve Manifold

Switches compressed air to individual tool functions through a bank of solenoid-controlled valves.

The solenoid valve manifold groups several pneumatic control valves into one block, each valve switching compressed air to a specific tool function such as opening and closing a gripper or firing a blow-off nozzle.

Mounting this manifold on the arm near the wrist, rather than back at a stationary panel, shortens air line runs to the tool and improves actuation response time, at the cost of exposing the valves to the same motion and vibration as the rest of the wrist.

Individual solenoid coils are the most common failure point on a manifold, since they cycle constantly and are exposed to heat and vibration, while the manifold body itself rarely fails outright.
