Tool Changer Master Unit

Provides the active locking mechanism on the robot side of an automatic tool changer.

The tool changer master unit is the active locking half of the coupling, mounted to the robot flange, containing the mechanism, often ball-lock or cam-lock, that engages the passive tool-side unit to secure a tool.

This unit also typically carries the utility pass-through connections for air, electrical, and signal lines that transfer across the coupling once locked, so its condition affects tool function as much as tool retention.
