USB Memory Module

The USB memory module plugs into a port on the teach pendant or controller and is the most common way technicians back up programs and system files, load option software, and transfer files without a network connection.

Because backups and updates are safety-relevant tasks, using a dedicated, tested USB device rather than a random drive of unknown history is standard practice to avoid file corruption or malware exposure.

A worn or failing USB port on the pendant or controller can produce intermittent read errors that look like a bad drive, so swapping known-good hardware is a routine first troubleshooting step.
